How it Works
Please take a moment to read the frequently asked questions below. You will find all of the information you need on how to schedule this event and what you get.
How do we conduct the program?
Your students will watch a 15 minute Before Mining Video that prepares them for their mining experience. In the video, Diamond Del shows the students all of the gems they will be looking for and then shows them how to sift their boxes. Then, the fun begins. The students get their mining boxes and they sift the boxes to uncover their very own fantastic gem collection. After the mining session, the students watch a 15 minute video in which Diamond Del shows them how to classify and identify their collections. Each student will also receive a color identification chart.
How do we set up the boxes?

How many classes can we do in one day?
You can do as many classes as your schedule allows. We suggest you schedule the mining sessions for 30 minutes and have at least 10 minutes between each session. However, if due to Covid you are not comfortable scheduling the classes back to back, you can keep the boxes as long as needed. For example, if you would be more comfortable scheduling one class per day to make sure the surfaces are virus free that will be fine.
When do I order collections and pay?
When you are ready to pay, click on the Order Now link. You can pay there by credit card or if you would like to send us a check, click on Pay By Check and it will give you the details on how to pay by check. All orders will be shipped by UPS Ground the next business day after payment is received. Please allow 7-10 business days for delivery.
What do I need to order?
You will be ordering pre-packaged gem collections for each student that will be participating in the program. The collections cost $12 each. When you place your order, you will let us know the size of the largest class that will be participating in the program. We will send you enough mining boxes, mining ore, and catch trays to do the largest class. The boxes, ore, and trays are reusable so each class will use the same boxes, ore, and trays.
